The WATHAURONG BOXING Initiative is a carefully designed, research-based program that fosters trust, respect, and
consistency within the community. Through a holistic and culturally grounded approach, it creates the conditions for voice
and aspirations to thrive by building self-worth, purpose, and meaningful engagement. Thoughtfully planned and deeply
considered, this initiative empowers individuals to grow, connect, and strengthen their identity through boxing and
mentorship.
To empower the Wathaurong Community by fostering a culture of self-worth, purpose, and connection through the transformative power of boxing, creating a space where voice and aspirations thrive, and relationships are strengthened within and beyond the community.
“WATHAURONG BOXING” is a collaborative partnership between Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative and Corner Boxing Co. Together, they are dedicated to using boxing as a medium to inspire dreams, growth, build resilience, and enhance engagement. By combining physical training with cultural and social connection, we aim to provide opportunities for individuals to discover their potential, strengthen their identity, and bridge meaningful relationships within the Wathaurong community and beyond.
First formed by community in 1978 and established as a registered organisation
in 1980 to provide culturally appropriate programs, support and services for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people living on Wathaurong, Gulidjan and Gadubanud country, within the wider Geelong, Bellarine and Colac regions.
We’re not here for the traditionalists and the gatekeepers.
Those who say there’s only one way.
Here, you’re not just another membership number.
Because this is not just another gym; this is a community.
We are taking a risk and standing true.
This is not the old done old, this is next done new.
This is where the real work happens.
This is Corner Boxing Co.
